Wedgwoods American Bulldogs

First I would like to introduce myself and family, my name is Mark Wedgwood and my partner is Cherie, we have two daughters, Jacinta and our new baby Emma. We have all been great fans of this breed since we first came across them on the internet while looking for our family pet.
In 2001 we were very fortunate to have purchased our first AB, his name was Whiteheads Odie boy, he came from Gisborne NZ, he was the biggest white male they had, he was awesome, he was my companion on the farm and at the beach, it was because of  Odie and the vast versatilities that these dogs posses we decided to import our first 2 female AB’s in 2005.

After looking for a quality breeder in Australia we chose Southern White Kennels as there was not many to choose from in New Zealand and they were still a relatively rare breed here, this was the start of our hybrid performance line breeding program, then in 2007 we imported Eli a 100% Johnson male from Kentucky USA, this gave us the start of our 100% Johnson line.

All our breeding dogs are hip x-rayed to ensure we do our best to breed non-dysplastic dogs as this is a problem in all breeds especially large and heavy dogs, all our dogs are family members and are well socialised, many of our off spring have been tested on wild pigs where they make great holders.

American bulldogs excel in many areas like personal protection, property protection, hunting as a holder, they are also good at agility work or just a companion as they are very loyal and loving.

Our goal at Wedgwood’s Kennels is to produce well muscled offspring with great strength, agility and endurance, as well as well-rounded disposition suitable for family environments in both hybrid performance type bulldogs and full Johnson type bulldogs, we put our best to our best and only look forward to the future.
